Carcinoma:  A malignant tumor (cancer) that develops from epithelial cells that line organs such as the lungs, breast, stomach, colon, prostate and skin. Carcinomas tend to infiltrate into adjacent organs and tissues and can spread to other organs (metastasize) such as bone, liver, lung or brain.
