The Heart Center: Here When You Need Us
The Heart Center at Saint John’s is home to a full range of technologically advanced diagnostic testing, from the simple to the complex and to all aspects of surgical and interventional treatment of heart disease. Saint John’s performs hundreds of interventions per year and offers the latest breakthroughs in the treatment of coronary artery disease and valvular heart disease.
Saint John’s state-of-the-art Digital Catheterization Department is the site of many life-saving procedures. Innovative technology allows medical professionals to take computerized pictures of the heart and translate these images to CD-ROM or data lines for viewing and analysis by physicians in their own offices.
The cardiac team includes cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons, cardiologists, electrophysiologists, critical care nurse specialists and support staff. Saint John’s medical team is also fully multilingual. Its cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons specialize in surgical techniques related to heart disease, including coronary artery bypass grafts, valve repair and replacement, aneurysm repair and more. Saint John’s clinical nurse specialists are registered nurses (RNs) who have received advanced training and education in caring for cardiac patients.
In addition to testing, the Heart Center is on the cutting edge of cardiac care by offering treatment options that include minimally invasive surgical techniques and cardiovascular interventions, including cardiac catheterization, balloon angioplasty, rotoblator angioplasty and drug-eluting stent implantation.
