Payment for Nutrition and Diabetes Education services is provided through contracts with insurance companies and physician groups as well as Medicare. Reimbursement depends on the contract Saint John's Health Center has with the group. Private insurance often covers a variety of diagnoses. Medicare covers diabetes and renal disease and will be expanding its coverage to other medical conditions in the near future. Weight management may not be covered unless there is a coexisting medical diagnosis.

As a courtesy, Saint John's offers a cash pay discount for those not covered by insurance. Cost without insurance is $118 for a one-hour consultation and $59 for a half-hour follow-up appointment.
