Wouldn’t it be fantastic if you’d get rid of or reduce the appearance of the bags under your eyes, fine lines, and wrinkles in minutes? Having tried everything marketed online and offline, home remedies, and even added an hour or so to your sleep, we feel your frustration over those bags.
Which is why when we heard about Plexaderm, a product/ serum that promises to change things around by significantly reducing the appearance of eye bags, we couldn’t help but try it out. By the end of this review, you will have a clear idea about Plexaderm and whether it works or not.
What Is Plexaderm?
Officially known as Plexaderm Rapid Reduction Serum (Cream) Plus, Plexaderm refers to a skincare product designed to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and under-eye bags for some hours. This serum promises to reduce the puffiness on your eyes, as well as Crows Feet. The manufacturers also note that this serum could be used by adults of either sex, skin tone, or skin type.
Plexaderm is one of the new products by True Earth Health Products. According to the manufacturer, this serum is enriched with hyaluronic acid and silicates which tighten the skin, reduce the appearance of eye bags, and eliminate wrinkles. The serum promises you a healthier, smoother, and younger-looking skin. Plexaderm promises all these benefits and no expensive injections, prescriptions, or hours of painful surgery.
The best part, according to the manufacturer, is that you get to enjoy the benefits above in four simple steps:
- First, shake the syringe well the remove the cap and the white tip. Rotate the applicator to the indicated unlocked position.
- Next, push the applicator and dispense a small amount of the serum on your fingertip.
- Rub in the cream around the eyes gently in an upward/ downward motion until the cream is absorbed fully.
- Pat the skin using a damp piece of cloth and then wait for 10 minutes before applying Hyaluronic Moisturizing serum.
The company promises/ claims that if you follow these steps, the effects of the Plexaderm cream should last for some hours. They also claim that the serum has light-diffusing ingredients which will boost the effectiveness of the cream.
Before we look at the main ingredients in Plexaderm, let’s first look at how the eye bags, wrinkles, and puffiness come about.
What causes bags under the eyes, eye wrinkles, and puffiness?
Here’s something you might not want to hear or be ready to accept – wrinkles (whether around the eyes or on any other part of the body), bags under the eyes, and the unexplained puffiness result from one thing – aging! Fatigue might be a cause in some cases, but it’s hardly the main culprit when you have permanent bags under your eyes and accompanying wrinkles. Sad, but true.
As you age, the skin loses its collagen and elastin supply, and with these loses, the skin is left to its own defenses, with nothing much to firm it up. The once firm skin now loosens and becomes wrinkly. This loss of elasticity is the normal way of life (biology) since your body produces fewer proteins as you age. The loss of the pillars that used to hold your skin up gone, leave you with nothing more than a wrinkled face. Keep in mind that lifestyle factors like smoking exposure to too much sun exacerbate the aging process.
But elastin and collagen are not the only two things that cause the wrinkles – aging take a toll on muscle strength. As you age, the muscles surrounding your eyes weaken and cause the migration of fats to your lower eyelids, hence the puffiness and the bags. There’s also fluid retention.
All these processes will leave you looking 60 in your 40s. No one wants that hence the constant search for the next best product that promises to bring you back the look you had in your 20s.
How Does Plexaderm Reduce the Appearance or bags under the eyes, wrinkles, and puffy eyes?
Before you rush into buying Plexaderm, it’s worth noting that contrary to the inscription on this serum recording that the product is a one-of-a-kind formulation unique to the Plexaderm name, this is not entirely true.
Plexaderm Rapid Wrinkler Remover Cream is said to be a formulation that contains silicates. Why do we have an issue with this? Well, you might not know this well, but silicates are abundant in nature, and they are available in different kinds, with different/ unique uses.
While the statement about the uniqueness of their ingredients is a bit out of context, in our opinion, the main ingredients in the serum are silicate compounds: magnesium silicate (talc), sodium silicate, and aluminum silicate. Ordinarily, these silicates are used in other processes with none of them close to anti-aging – these silica compounds are often used as preservatives or thickening agents. It is, therefore, unclear how exactly they help you reduce the appearance of the bags under your eyes or the puffiness. From our research, the silicates in Plexaderm don’t show up as dermatologically approved ingredients for anti-aging.
The manufacturer notes that the silicates extracted from shale clay offer extra tightening around the eyes by developing an extra-tightening layer in only minutes. They note that the silicates in the serum pull out and then tighten the skin’s dermal layer under the eye bags, straightening out the skin, thereby reducing the appearance of wrinkles and the eyebags.
Note, however, that despite our opinions against the use of silicates in this skincare product, there’s one active ingredient that makes Plexaderm worth a try – hyaluronic acid.
Hyaluronic acid is one of the most common, dermatologically-recommended/ approved remedy for most skin issues, as well as signs of premature aging. Hyaluronic acid is also called hyaluronan, and is it a clear and gooey substance produced by the body naturally. The largest concentrations of hyaluronic acid are produced/ found in connective tissue, skin, and the eyes where it serves the important role of protecting the skin and connective tissues by retaining water, keeping the tissues and cells moist and well-lubricated.
The presence of hyaluronic acid in Plexaderm could, therefore, explain how the serum is purported to reduce the signs of premature aging and to reduce the puffiness of the eyes. By binding to water in the skin cells and plasma, it retains moisture giving your skin a supple, younger-looking skin. Hyaluronic acid also provides an extra layer of cushioning between our cells, and this allows the skin to stretch tightly, preventing the appearance of the fine lines/ wrinkles. Hydrated skin cells are plump, and this results in the slow disappearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also reduces the appearance of dry skin, especially in older adults.
When it comes to Plexaderm, there’s one catch, the labeling of this product doesn’t indicate how much hyaluronic acid is in Plexaderm meaning that you won’t know if there’s enough of hyaluronic acid for you to see results.
Other than the silicates and hyaluronic acid, the manufacturer notes that this serum also comes with hydrolyzed rice protein and collagen.
Collagen (soluble collagen, as mentioned in the serum’s ingredients list), as mentioned above is a crucial ingredient/ protein for the skin and its presence in the serum promises a plum-looking, healthier, tighter, and wrinkle-free skin.
Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 – Besides collagen and hyaluronic acid, the other common component present in anti-aging skin care products is a peptide. Plexaderm is infused with the peptide Argireline, which is effective against fine lines and wrinkles. It’s said that this peptide also reduces muscle contraction, albeit temporarily, reducing the appearance of wrinkles. Wrinkles result from muscle contraction, and this peptide prevents the muscular contraction by intercepting brain signals.
Cellulose Gum – Cellulose gum in Plexaderm will thicken the skin and firm it, improving your appearance by reducing the signs of premature aging.
How much is Plexaderm?
Plexaderm Rapid Reduction Serum is the main product marketed on the website, but there are a few other products you could buy from the company. And the prices vary depending on the number of bottles you purchase and the merchandise purchased. The cost of one bottle of the Plexaderm Rapid Wrinkle Remover Cream, for example, is $79.95. The Plexaderm Rapid Reduction Serum goes for $59,95 currently, and there are offers you can always take advantage of. The kits are priced differently, too.
Even though there are too many missing links around this product, there are a few advantages you should know about. These include:
- Hyaluronic acid is proven to be effective in enhancing skin health while reversing the effects/ signs of premature aging.
- It has collagen, peptides, and cellulose gum which could help your skin
- There’s nothing to prove that silicates in the serum help the skin
- The concentration of hyaluronic acid and the other ingredients is not indicated
So, should you buy the Plexaderm range of skincare products?
Well, despite the before and after photos on the website and even the trustworthy ingredients, we don’t really think that anything can cause the disappearance of wrinkle and bags under the eyes in under 10 minutes, by working from the inside out. Makeup does, but do you really expect your skin to have the collagen and hyaluronic acid work magic and straighten out your muscles and skin in less than 10 minutes?
Though convincing in their marketing, we would not recommend that you use this product and expect 10-minute transformation.
